Free of charge for under 18 year old children on weekends and national holidays.


Our largest exhibition spaces are currently closed due to upcoming renovations. The Chorus sinensis exhibition is situated in the smaller spaces connected to the museum lobby.

NOORMARKUN KÄSITYÖT - NORRMARK HANDICRAFT

Maire Gullichsen (1907–1990) and Bertel Gardberg (1916–2007) founded the handicraft company Norrmark Handicraft in 1961. Maire Gullichsen was striving to preserve the handicraft tradition of her home region, as well as to promote the Finnish applied arts industry and the manufacturing of quality handicraft items in Finland.

Performing the Fringe evolved over the artists' and curators' collective hikes in three different contexts in the rural–urban fringe areas of the cities of Pori, Stockholm and Vilnius. Hiking unfolded as a common activity that combines walking, observation, talking and engaging with regional specificities while also serving as a tool for researching and understanding local contexts. Experiences in these environments and the artists' research processes that evolved from the hikes have materialised into artistic commissions.

WILL AND VISION - MAIRE GULLICHSEN ART FOUNDATION COLLECTION 50 YEARS

The year 2021 marks the passage of 50 years since the establishment of the Maire Gullichsen Foundation and 40 years since the inaugural exhibition of Pori Art Museum. The exhibition Will and Vision - Maire Gullichsen Art Foundation Collection 50 Years celebrates these landmark events by presenting a selection of Finnish and international art from the foundation's collection.

PRINTING AN ART EXPERIENCE – COLLABORATION WITH THE ROBOTICS ACADEMY

A collaboration between the Pori Art Museum, the Robotics Academy at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, and the Satakunnan näkövammaiset association for the visually impaired, the project explored the potential of 3D technology to enhance the accessibility of art. The result was touchable 3D print of Carl-Gustaf Lilius's bronze sculpture From Series Woman with Bird's Wings (1966). The sculpture is part of The Collection of Maire Gullichsen Art Foundation.

A WEEK'S NOTICE

A Week's Notice is a three-channel video and sound installation in which miniature models of houses borrowed from the cinema, history of architecture and the artist's private life, are seeing flying and collapsing before the viewer's eyes. It is an ode to the disintegration of architecture that seeks beauty in instability and turns trauma into a new territory of creation and rebirth.

MEET THE ARTIST: JUUSO LEPPÄLÄ

The Pori-based creator featured in this exhibition is graphic artist Juuso Leppälä. His works are dominated by black outlines and bear a resemblance to cartoons. In recent years he has mainly worked on continuing series that keep evolving all the time.
The exhibition features works from the Stalking and the Runner's Hallucinations series. Some of the works on show belong to the collections The City of Pori Art Collection. The most recent works are on loan from the artist.Art Collection
