The research archive contains documents of the museum’s activities as well as donated and deposited materials. Its most important items are the art museum’s exhibition archive, the Fluxus archive, inventories of the work by artists in the Satakunta region, and the archives donated by private persons and associations. Of the latter, the most extensive items are the archives of Arvo Mäki, Taidevintti, Pori Worker’s Art Association, Pori Saskia Association, and Art Association NYTE.

The photo archive contains both analogue and digital photographs from the early days of the art museum to the present day. The material is focused on documenting the museum’s exhibitions, collections, and activities in general. The analogue material consists mainly of slides of different sizes but contains also prints and negatives. The digital material has been archived in the collection management system. The photo archive consists of over 145,000 photos, of which 80,000 are in analogue format.

The media archive contains mainly recordings of performances and events at the museum, as well as artist interviews. The earliest materials date back to 1980 and consist of VHS tapes and film reels. The newest accessions are in digital format. In total, the media archive contains of approximately 400 recordings.
